About Dive Planet Diving New Zealand

Dive Planet was the brainchild of Paul Morris. A keen kayaker and fisherman Paul's life changed forever on 14 January 2005 when kayaking in Taupiri Bay an East Coastal Region off New Zealand's North Island, Paul had a terrifying encounter with a Great White Shark.

Paul's post traumatic recovery finally resulted in a respect and fascination of sharks which culminated in him learning to scuba dive. Rather than hunt he now observes, photographs and has collated a vast amount of marine related information. Paul's experience has gained him exposure in the media, namely National Geographic, Explorer Channel (Ultimate Shark), 20/20 (White Fright) and No Opportunity Wasted (Shark Fear). This work will be ongoing and for more details check out Paul's Shark Encounter.

In February 2008 the Snelgrove Family got involved with the project. Julian Snelgrove has known Paul for 25 years. "I was so impressed with what Paul had done with his original site, his dedication, passion and could see the massive potential for growth of the business. We just had to help take it to the next level".

On the 9th of June 2008 Dive Planet Company was formed. "We aim to be New Zealand's premium dive portal providing educational information on dive sites, wrecks, marine life, conservation, dive shops, charters and promotional advertising for all the relative categories".
