Here we will be looking at each type of shark and their unique attributes and why they are so important to the survival of our oceans and man himself. Fact over 173 million sharks are needlessly slaughtered each year! The majority of these sharks are slaughtered for their fins that end up on the Asian market for Shark Fin Soup. This soup has no proven benefits to ones health and is just basically a thickener. Within this section you will find informative links about the Rays that inhabit New Zealand waters along with stunning images and information about our Manta Rays. Images of the Manta Rays have been kindly donated to Dive Planet by Madfish.
