Scientific name Parma alboscapularis Size Grows up to 30cm Area The Black Angelfish can be found from the East Cape of NZ north. Habitat Black Angelfish are northern fish that live on shallow rocky reefs normally less than 10m deep.
Other Information The Black Angelfish is unusual because it grows rapidly to adult size in around 18 months after which it stops growing. The white ear sometimes seen on angelfish can be turned on and off .
Black Angelfish Diet The Black Angelfish almost solely eat red and green algae. Since algae have a low energy value they spend most of their time feeding.
Black Angelfish Breeding Egg laying occurs in November and December. |
