Welcome to Poor Knights Divers on the Dive Planet Portal, the newest PADI dive resort and Project Aware Eco-Operator in Tutukaka. PK Dive offer a world class diving experience at the stunning Poor Knights Islands and can also take you to explore the wrecks of the HMNZS Tui and Waikato. Twenty-four kilometres off the Tutukaka Coast, the Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve offers some of the best diving and snorkelling to be found anywhere in the world. Marine life is abundant within these waters, which have been protected since 1981. The caves, sand channels, vertical walls, archways and kelp forests of this unique underwater environment create a habitat for more species of fish, than can be found anywhere else in New Zealand coastal waters. This makes the Poor Knights a favourite destination for underwater photographers and underwater videographers.
It is impossible not to be dazzled by the vast schools of fish including snapper, trevally, red moki and, kingfish, tropical coral reef fish including moon wrasse, sunset wrasse, and Lord Howe coral fish plus pelagic species such as striped marlin, yellowfin tuna and sunfish. In shallow water, you will see demoiselles, black angelfish and Sandagger's wrasse; pink and blue maomao, butterfly perch and schools of pigfish, rainbowfish, toadstool grouper and john dory. Large short tailed stingrays are frequent visitors, you may also manta rays, sharks, orca or dolphins.
PK Dive can offer PADI dive courses or Discover Scuba, if you are not a qualified diver; they also offer dive/accommodation packages at very reasonable prices. Here on Dive Planet you will find information, photos and videos on most of the sites at the Poor Knights. Start your adventure with PK Dive today.
