On the diving scene, the crayfish are in good abundance in the shallow waters, it has been nothing to come home with your quota and a 2kg crayfish, the visibility on average 10 -15 meters has made diving very enjoyable for this time of year.
On our last few dive trips out at the Hen & Chicks we have managed some good crays, we have also been accompanied by large schools of inquisitive Kingfish, huge schools of small snapper, mao mao and great visibility
Sail Rock has produced some good sized Crayfish along with large numbers of Kingies and stingrays. The Stingrays have been seen in good numbers of up to 30 or 40 at any one time on the Northeastern corner of Sail Rock. This has made exciting times for the photographers and videographers.
Ridgeback Charters new purpose built fish and dive boat has performed extremely well, as she has been very well received by all. We are ever so lucky here at Mangawhai that we are able to fish and dive most days as we can get out and around Bream Tail, and or the islands to find some shelter from any wind or sea condition to fish and dive.
