Dive Sail Rock, Dive New Zealand

Sail Rock has got its name from its appearances as from a distance it looks like a huge sail on the horizon. Located around 20km from Bream bay on the east coast of mid-northland New Zealand. Diving here is much like that of the Hen and Chicken Islands, as it is in very close proximity.

Diving Sail Rock

With its steep faces that drop away covered in ecklonia kelp as well as over the undulating boulders makes this a very interesting dive. Dive Sail Rock and you will see some huge crayfish that live here. The last time I went on a dive Sail Rock adventure we got some really nice crayfish and photos.

Exploring this magnificent terrain as you swim through large boulder areas and canyons is remarkable especially seeing the visitors to this area like Eagle and Sting Rays. The Blue Mao-mao and Red-Moki are plentiful adding to the enjoyment of the photographers.
