Big Eye Cave Poor Knights Islands

Dive Big Eye Cave

The name Big Eye cave came about by the thousands of big eye fish that make this location home during the day.

The cave is penetrated into the cliff and is a nice dive with the regular features that are so profound throughout the Knights. Great photos can be taken here especially if you are after silhouette shots of fish or divers in the mouth of the cave.

The use of a strobe is vital in obtaining good shots of the big-eyes as they hang back within the caves darkness. Upon exiting the cave you are well within the unique Gardens that have become a very popular spot at the Poor Knights.

Orca's have been spotted here munching up the numerous stingrays in a frenzied feeding fest. Great photos of the awesome fire-brick starfish can also be taken like this one here taken by my son Peter who is also my trusty dive buddy.
