Freds Pinnacle Poor Knights Islands

Diving Freds Pinnacle Poor Knights

Freds Pinnacle is just one of the many pinnacles that are scattered around the Poor Knights Islands and like the other pinnacles Freds pinnacle is teaming with life having pelagic species, like the Kingfish that frequent this area. The Freds Pinnacle comes to within 10 metres of the surface where you will see mass amounts of pink mao mao that gracefully cruise through these waters.

Freds Pinnacle is best suited for advanced divers as is much of the Poor Knights Islands. Photography can be very good here especially for macro shots of the sponges and encrusted life. I have never had too much luck capturing good shots of the Kingfish, maybe due to my rather slow response time after seeing them dart through the water like torpedoes on steroids.
