The Maomao Arch dive site you will find that the tunnel here runs right through Tawhiti Rahi Island making it easily accessible from either end.
Within this rather confined area it contains several different aquatic environments harbouring an assortment of species. Large schools of demoiselles and Mao-Mao seem to congregate here in large cloud like schools. Other species like the scorpion fish that are well camouflaged into the environment can be found in a motionless state on the rocks.
Conditions here are usually favourable for divers. There is a bit of a current at times that doe's not cause any problems but this area is known to be inaccessible with an Easterly running swell.
