Te Araar Point is like most other exposed points and care should be taken due to the currents that sweep around here. This spot leads both North and Southwards around the point to Northern arch. With the currents being rather strong within the archway pending of direction of tidal flow.
Thick kelp foliage with schools of fish hang, around this rocky area. Crays and kingfish are a common sight as well as Nudibranchs holding fast to the formations around the archway.
Pink and Blue Mao-mao seem to be motionless in the currents within the arch itself. Photography can be good here and I recommend the use of a strobe especially in lower light levels.
